# Event objects

Corporate event summaries, original filing text, attachments and amendment history for US companies. The `/events/*` endpoints require **Starter or higher**. Cross-company and date-filtered searches use [`POST /screener/events`](/documents/post-screenerevents.md).

## Event filing object

Returned by `POST /events/filings`, `POST /events/filing` and `POST /screener/events`.

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `id` | Filing identifier, used as `filing_id` on `POST /events/filing`. |
| `ticker`, `issuer_cik` | Company symbol, and the 10-digit CIK this filing was filed under. |
| `accession_number` | SEC accession number. |
| `form_type` | Filing type as reported. |
| `filing_date` | Filing date, `YYYY-MM-DD`. |
| `period_of_report` | Reported event date, `YYYY-MM-DD`. |
| `items` | Item codes represented by the filing's current sections. |
| `items_declared` | Item codes declared in the filing. |
| `merge_status` | Amendment association: `null` (none), `confirmed`, `likely`, or `unresolved` (standalone amendment). |
| `source_url_prefix` | Base URL for resolving each section's `source_locator`, including relative `../` paths. |

## Event section object

Returned in `sections` by `POST /events/filing` and `POST /screener/events`.

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `item`, `title` | Item code and section title. |
| `summary` | Current event summary, including available amendments. |
| `source_accession`, `source_locator` | Source accession and document path for the summary. Resolve the path against the filing's `source_url_prefix`. |
| `source_filing_date` | Filing date of `source_accession`, `YYYY-MM-DD`. |
| `restated` | `null`, `added`, `modified` or `cancelled`. |
| `prior` | Previous summaries, when available: `{accession, filing_date, summary}` entries, newest first. Returned only by `POST /events/filing`. |

The detail response also includes `amendments` when available. Each entry contains `accession`, `source_locator`, `amendment_type`, `amendment_filing_date`, `sections_added`, `sections_restated`, `merge_key` (amendment reference label), and `amendment_reason` (text or `null`).

Attachments are returned as `exhibits` when requested. Each entry contains `exhibit`, `description`, `source_locator`, `source_accession` and `text` (`null` when the attachment has no text).

## Event warnings

`_warnings` is omitted when there are no notices. Identical messages appear once.

- Different `items` and `items_declared` sets produce a filing-level notice. List and screening responses combine the affected filing count for that page into one notice.
- Selecting `items` on the detail endpoint produces a notice if sections are omitted.
- Reading a standalone unresolved amendment produces a notice.
- Returned attachments without text produce a notice.
- History limits, the company's other symbols or CIKs ([Company symbols and CIKs](/documents/coverage.md#company-symbols-and-ciks)) and the screening pagination cap may produce notices.
