Form 4 data is live on Akkru. Every buy, sell, grant, gift, option exercise and tax-withholding event that officers, directors and 10% holders report — parsed, attributed to the filer, linked back to the original SEC document.

Getting the filings was never the problem

Form 4 has been free on EDGAR for twenty years. You can go download one right now.

The cost is everything after the download. One Form 4 is a fragment — one person, one day, a few transaction codes, and a post-transaction balance that may or may not include derivatives and may be held directly or through a trust. Turning fragments into a view of a company means stitching filings together per insider, splitting real decisions (codes P and S) from mechanical stuff (A, M, F, G), working out what belongs in the denominator, carrying positions forward, and reading footnotes to see which sales were pre-scheduled.

Across four companies that's several hundred transactions. Nobody should be doing that by hand anymore.

So is the memory and storage run out of steam?

Rather than read another take, we had an agent pull every Form 4 filed this year across the stack: Micron on the HBM and DRAM side, SanDisk in NAND, Seagate and Western Digital in HDD. Codes P and S, non-derivative, 2026-01-01 to now.

32 insiders traded. 31 of them were selling. 506 transactions, three of which were purchases.

As a headline that looks damning. Go person by person and it says close to the opposite — the whole thing turns on how you normalize.

Micron sits on the hottest layer of the AI trade and its insiders are the calmest in the group: nobody sold more than a quarter of what they held, the CEO still owns 387K shares, and a director put $7.82M of his own money in at $337. That's the only open-market buying anywhere in the four companies. Seagate is the other extreme — every named executive officer sold, not one purchase across 233 transactions, and the Chief Commercial Officer, who sees orders and pricing before anyone else does, took 90.4% of his position off the table.

Signal ranking — ratio, not dollars

Ranking by percentage of position inverts the picture that dollar amounts suggest.

In dollars, Micron ($119M) and Seagate ($152M) are the same story. In ratios they're at opposite ends. And Seagate and Western Digital do literally the same thing for a living, yet land on opposite sides of that table — so whatever these people are reacting to, it's company by company, not layer by layer.

The detail is where it earns its keep. One SanDisk director's balance fell off a cliff this year and any dollar-based screen would have called it an exit — the footnotes show two code-G gifts into family trusts and not a single share sold. A Western Digital director zeroed out a family trust in one day, under a 10b5-1 plan he'd adopted three months earlier, which the footnote says outright. Both of those came back attached to the rows, one click from the filing. That's the part you can't get from a number on its own.
